The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association is considering scrapping the state's traditional conference system for a district system for all seven divisions in the state.

Under the plan, eight, 8-team districts would be created. The largest 64 schools would play in Division I, the next 64 largest schools based on enrollment would play in Division 2 and so forth through Division 6. The remaining 44 schools would be placed in Division 7.

The idea is to make sure that schools of the same size are playing each other, which should create a little more balance.

A lot of discuss on the matter is still ahead, but officials say that the new system could be in place for the 2010 season.
