Brillon (14-0) is the 2010 Wisconsin Division 5 high school football champs after a 31-10 victory over Colby (13-1) Thursday in Madison.

The Lions won the battle of unbeatens by finding ways to penetrate the Colby defense that had allowed only 67 points all season coming into the game.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Colby effort was impacted by an injury to its leading rusher Dylan Loertscher.

Edgar Wins Battle of Wisconsin State Champs

Something had to give when 2009 champs Edgar (Division 6) and Fond Du Lac St. Mary's Springs (Division 5) met for the Division 6 title on Thursday.

In the end, it was Edgar's stingy defense that prevailed in the 6-3 victory.  The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that it was a perfect end to the season for Edgar, which shutout sevent opponents this season.

Gilman Claims Wisconsin Division 7 Crown Stopping Burlington Central Catholic's Run of Titles

Burlington Central Catholic couldn't get the three-peat Thursday in Wisconsin Division 7 high school football championship game.

Gilman defeated the two-time defending champs 42-13. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Pirates used a strong running game that almost set a new division championship game record.
