Wisconsin High School Football Playoffs Begin Tonight

Wisconsin high school football's second season begins tonight with opening round playoff games in all seven classifications with 224 teams pointed toward a trip to Camp Randall Stadium next month.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel has great pre-playoff coverage, including a great story that examines the end of an era at Germantown where Phil Datka is retiring at the end of the current playoff run that begins tonight against Sheboygan South. Datka is currently fifth on the state's all-time coaching wins list with 278 victories.

Even impressive, the story by Mark Stewart points out, is the fact that eight of the ten all-time winners is still coaching!
